- Q & A with Aaron on US Olmypic Comitee

Thanks a lot to Anum H for pointing this out to me. There is a new Q & A with Aaron. I already added it to the Articles Section.
The original can be found US Olympic Team.

Read the whole Q & A here

Q&A with Aaron Peirsol
DAN ALBANO // July 30, 2005
Copyright 2005 Orange County Register

Aaron Peirsol is one of the fastest humans when swimming on his back.

He won three Olympic gold medals and set a world record on his back in Athens last summer.

He also is coming back to his old club pool—which has changed a lot since he left it—for the Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool on Aug. 2. The showdown against Australia will be at the refurbished William Woollett Jr. Aquatic Center in Irvine (known to Peirsol and others as Heritage Park) at 3 p.m.

What’s new with the former Newport Harbor High and University of Texas star? Peirsol, 21, talked to the Register’s Dan Albano recently about returning home, his new home in Austin and his plans for a get away in a Central American jungle.

Q: Is it special for you that the ``Duel in the Pool’’ will be at your home pool (from his days with the Irvine Novaquatics)?

A: Yeah, and it’s a brand new pool. It’s basically the same pool to me. ... It’s pretty cool, man. Very special to see everything come back full circle. ... It’s in and out. Tons of fun. Crank it out. Every meet should be a day long, you know.

Q: You bought a house in Austin, Texas?

A: Yeah, I am a homeowner. Very cool home, too. I’d love to eventually come back to Southern California. I always come back to Southern California, but I’d love to keep that house in Austin.

Q: Talk about the house.

A: Well, it’s in the city pretty much. It’s just a couple of minutes from downtown. It’s on a full acre of land. It’s on a creek. (There’s) the sound of the creek. My back yard is very natural. Lots of trees. Lots of bushes. Beautiful deck wraps around the back. Very relaxing little place. I’m in the city, but even during rush-hour ... you can’t hear traffic at all.

Q: I read that you were going to buy some land on an island?

A: No, my dad (Tim) and I bought a piece of land in (Nosara) Costa Rica back in December. It’s a cool piece of property. Somewhere to get away to.

Q: Any surfing possibilities there?

A: Yeah. ... I haven’t surfed since I was probably in Costa Rica back in December. I miss it.

Q: What’s your dream for the land?

A: We’re making it right now. We’re drawing it—literally. It’s got a beautiful view (of the ocean). We’re back in the rain forest. .... (It’s) two acres on top of the hill. Build a house. Nothing spectacular. Just want to build something we can cruise to, you know. Two master bedrooms. We’re thinking like 2,000 square feet.

Q: You’re looking at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing?

A: Yeah. ... We’re still young enough. Me, Brendan (Hansen) and (Ian) Crocker, (Michael) Phelps, (Klete) Keller and all these guys.

Q: Are you doing anything with school (at the University of Texas?)

A: I did a full load last spring and will do a full load this fall, too. Got to finish up, you know. Can’t let it get away.

Q: Your major is government. Any thoughts on going into politics after swimming?

A: No, I’m not a politician. ... I only study it because I like the history of it. I had a few great teachers—actually that is the truth. That’s why I went into it. A few great professors. They kind of got me sparked on it. I never thought I’d go into something like that. I like the whole evolution of government.

Q: Did you need a mental break after Athens?

A: I took about four months solid off. I didn’t really get into the water solidly into January, though. After that, I started really getting back into it pretty hard. This past spring (with another world record in April) really rejuvenated me. I realized I have so much left in the tank.

8/17/2005 - News

I have been pretty busy during the last days and there are still some issues with the server but nothing serious.  Just some short news and little updates for now.

* I added new articles to the Articles section.
* 3 new wallpapers are in the FanSection, one new one will be added in the next days.
* New pictures and screencaps of the World Championships in Montreal will be added either tomorrow or during the weekend.
* More new pictures of various meets will be added as well.

A new feature will be introduced as well.
Right now the birthday messages are still visible in the box on the right site. Those messages and graphics will be added to the FanSection very soon and will remain online there.
The box then will be used for the new feature Favourite Picture of the Month . The one picture which gets the most hits during the month will be entered into the box. If two or more pictures should have the same amounts of hits I will put up a poll for a few days and you can decide with your comments which picture should be Favourite Picture of the Month.

On to the *real* News.
Aaron was elected on the 2nd place behind Lance Armstrong on USOlympicTeam.com. Read the article U.S. Olympic Committee honors athletes

8/14/2005 - Random news

Michael Phelps Online.com is still offline (due to a server change or something similar) but the News Section can be visited and is working. So everything concerning the site and Michael Phelps will be posted there. Just click the link.
I thought I mentioned it since some might wonder what happen to MPO.

Thanks Jenn for reminding, I wanted to post this for a while now.
