9/22/2008 - Missoula Swim Clinic 2008

Article about the swim clinic at Missoula Cool in the pool: Missoula youth swim with some of biggest names in sport.
The article includes a photo of Aaron signing autographs.

“... “We were all this age at one point,” Peirsol said. “We can help these young swimmers understand that, and know that we understand what they are going through - and we can tell them, ‘You can be the best in the world if you put your mind to it.’ ”

The annual clinic was Cromwell’s idea, hatched as a way to stay connected to his hometown.

“I realize I’ve been away from Missoula for six years now, and this my community,” he said. “I want to help make it better, and this is my way - by bringing my friends and helping the kids here.

“Neil, Jeri and Aaron are not just great swimmers - they are great people and great role models.”...”

9/11/2008 - Aaron to host a clinic

* Peirsol, Cromwell to host clinic

“...Aaron Peirsol and Neil Walker may practically be regulars in Missoula by now, but there’s still nothing ordinary about having this much swimming prowess in one local pool.

The two Olympic gold medalists will join Missoula’s own David Cromwell, world championship silver medalist Jeri Moss and Olympic swimmer Eric Shanteau at the third annual Texas Gold swim clinic on Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Grizzly Pool.

...

The day-long clinic begins Sunday and is open to all swimmers aged 11 years and older. Sign-in starts at 7:30 a.m. and the cost is $95. The clinic is offered by the Missoula Aquatic Club. For more information, contact the MAC at www.macswim.org.

9/1/2008 - Aaron in the post-olympic news

Update:
Aaron to appear on “Oprah” at the Millennium Park on Wednesday for a special edition of her talk show.

* The full guest list for Oprah’s Olympic Party in Millennium Park

“... Swimming (Men’s)
Ian Crocker, Mark Gangloff, Matt Grevers, Brendan Hansen, Cullen Jones,
Jason Lezak, Ryan Lochte, Aaron Peirsol, Michael Phelps, Peter Vanderkaay, Garrett Weber-Gale

The tickets that were available to the public have already been snapped up (as this Tribune story notes). There will also be some lawn seats available for the 10 a.m. Wednesday rally, but if you want to try that option, you’ll have to line up starting at 6 a.m. If you don’t want to get up that early, you can see the Olympians basking in the Oprah-rific glow on your TV when the talk show returns on Monday.

* Turning Olympic gold into cash

“... Liukin and swimmers Torres, Lezak, Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen and Cullen Jones all stand to profit handsomely from their Olympic success. What’s unusual is that this gravy train rolls right through the Triangle, where Morgenstein operates his agency, PMG, out of his house in Cary....”
