>> Set a new American, NCAA, U.S. Open and school record in the prelims of the 200-yard backstroke at the NCAA Championships (3/27-29) with a time of 1:40.01.
>> Broke his own American, NCAA, U.S. Open and school record in the finals of the 200-yard backstroke at the NCAA Championships when he became the first person ever to go under 1:40.00 in the event with a time of 1:39.16.
> Led off the 200- and 400-yard medley relays that set NCAA, American, U.S. Open and School Records at the NCAA Championships with times of 1:24.46 and 3:04.47, respectively.
>> Collected his fourth NCAA title by leading off the 800-yard freestyle relay with a split of 1:34.57 as the team went on to finish with a mark of 6:18.62.

>> At the Texas Invitational (12/5-7), posted four NCAA automatic qualifying times and four NCAA consideration times en route to establishing meet records in the 200-yard backstroke (1:41.34) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:10.17).
>> Went undefeated in the 200-yard backstroke on the year, posting a perfect 7-0 record.
>> Posted seven NCAA automatic qualifying times and 12 NCAA consideration times on the season in individual events.
OLYMPICS
>> Earned a silver medal in the 200-meter backstroke (1:57.33) at the 2000 Olympics, finishing second to U.S. teammate Lenny Krayzelburg.
>> Was second in the 200-meter backstroke and fourth in the 100-meter backstroke (55.14) at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
